I have extensive experience in designing and implementing websites, from conception to delivery. I have managed and maintained websites for volunteer organisations (while I was studying and living overseas) and more recently in the development of websites for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), where I was responsible for managing both local and global websites and the Attorney-General’s Department (AGD), where I led a team of staff in managing approximately 30 websites.
Having taken 3-years leave from my full-time job at DFAT, I have now upgraded and updated my own website in preparation for the most amazing and exciting job opportunities about to come my way
Powered by the chance to edit and develop a web site using the WordPress Content Management System (CMS), I have downloaded a few options from Elegant Themes (a great variety of professional designs that allow a developer to edit themes themselves). I have also initially investigated the installation of a Drupal CMS to research the comparisons.
This new resume format provides an opportunity to showcase my experience and skills in a more graphical sense. Some of the web sites used in my portfolio have either been developed and/or managed by myself or in conjunction with a team of staff.
Just before I took my leave to move with my family to the US, I initiated a full web presence activity of work for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. This project of work would ensure a future focus for improvements for DFAT’s online image, including the implementation of a web strategy and detailed user analysis.
This most recent project has highlighted a keen interest (dare I say it a passion) in content strategy and investigating uses for new technology.
I now know that any future work I undertake will be to provide web sites that are accessible and provide users with the tools to ensure the best experience as they explore and interact with, what has recently been described as, the…InterWeb!
